All NCK training programs start with an introduction to the concept of engaging the entire musculature against any physical resistance. I refer to it as Radiant Compression and while the act makes it possible to safely move heavier loads, it also helps the lifter develop a firm understanding of how to apply our entire ability to any physical task.
In my time as a trainer I have learned and explored many effective ways to build on radiant compression as a strength skill. Like all other strength skills, the ability to engage more of the musculature is a feat to be constantly practiced and improved upon.
Believe it or not, for me, one of the biggest dangers in Kettlebell lifting is when people stick to using only the Kettlebells that feel "light and easy" to lift.
Train safely, effectively, and stay healthy and your ability is bound to improve. Guaranteed!
It’s all too easy to be taught that physical degradation is inevitable, or that older people with phenomenal strength are uncommon, or even uncanny, but this has never been the case.
A special consideration should be taken when choosing a high impact weight training regiment if you are to maintain healthy shoulders and have strength/mobility throughout your lifetime.
It all comes down to keeping ourselves safe and feeling good about what we’re doing, without injury and without forced inactivity.
